People search
Find founders and executives at the companies you search for, look up a specific person by name, or narrow a company search to companies where one person meets several conditions.
Find people
find_people (MCP) and POST /api/v1/people/search take one company scope:
| Scope | Returns |
|---|---|
| company_domains | The leadership of up to 25 companies, up to 10 people each. |
| description and/or company filters | People at companies that match, exactly as company search matches them. |
| previously_at alone | People who used to work at those companies and now hold a role elsewhere. |
Person conditions — roles, title_contains, person_location, previously_at with previous_title_contains — must all hold for the same person. With no roles you get decision-makers: founders, the C-suite, and VPs, heads, directors, owners, partners and presidents. In titles and locations, each term matches whole words; a term of five or more letters also matches words that start with it ("engineer" matches "Engineering"). Internships don't count toward previously_at. Each person carries a name, role, title, company (name and domain), location, LinkedIn URL, up to three prior companies, a confidence of high or medium, and the date the link was last verified. When the response carries next_cursor, repeat the call with it for the next page; cursors stay valid for 24 hours.
Look up a person
lookup_people and POST /api/v1/people/lookup take up to 10 names, each with an optional company — a domain works best. Several matches for one name are different people who share it; names with no match come back in unmatched. A name found only at companies other than the one you gave is free and comes back in unconfirmed, without those people; look it up without a company to see them. Returned matches that are not at that company are flagged company_match: false.
Filter companies by a person
search_companies accepts person_roles, person_title_contains, person_previously_at and person_previous_title_contains (in the REST API, as filters.people.person). They describe one person: "companies whose CTO used to work at Stripe" is person_roles=["cto"] with person_previously_at=["stripe.com"]. Title terms match words and internships don't count, as in find_people.
