Find companies hiring where you are, wherever they are based
Where a company is registered stopped predicting where it hires. The two are separate filters, so you can find the companies staffing up in a city whatever country their office is in.
The useful question is rarely "which companies are based here". It is "which companies are hiring here" — and for distributed teams those are very different lists. A San Francisco company with a growing engineering group in Pune appears in neither a Bay Area list nor an Indian-company list, but it is hiring in Pune.
Canonical keeps hiring location and headquarters as independent filters over roughly 20,000 companies with posting data, and every company profile shows whether any of its open roles are remote. Coverage is partial by design: this is a signal about who is hiring where, not a directory of employers.
The problem
Company databases are organised around headquarters, because that is the field they have. So a search for companies in a city returns the ones registered there and misses every distributed team hiring into it — which, for most cities outside a handful of hubs, is where the growth actually is.
How Canonical solves it
Filter on hiring location directly. Ask for companies hiring in a city, a state or a country as an ISO code, and combine that with headquarters if you want the contrast: companies hiring in India that are not headquartered there. Each company profile also reports whether its open roles include remote positions.

Frequently asked questions
Can I filter for remote-only roles?
Not yet. Whether a company has any remote posting is shown on its profile, but it is not a search filter at the moment. Filter by the city or country the roles are in, which is usually the more precise question anyway.
Is hiring location the same as headquarters?
No, and that distinction is the point of this page. They are separate filters, and a company can match one, the other, or both. A US-headquartered company hiring in Bengaluru is genuinely both.
Do city aliases work?
Yes. Hiring locations resolve through a geographic gazetteer, so Gurgaon and Gurugram, Bangalore and Bengaluru, New York and New York City all reach the same place.
How many companies have hiring data?
Roughly 20,000. An absent hiring signal means we hold no posting data for that company, not that it has no open roles.
